Introduction

Long before Pat Dexter and her family ever stayed at EdenRidge, she was praying for the ministry. She discovered EdenRidge before ground had even been broken and watched over the years as God brought the vision to life. Eventually, EdenRidge became a place of rest not only for Pat and her husband, but for the next generation of their missionary family. And in 2027, they plan to return with their children from around the world to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

Pat shares what EdenRidge has meant to her family:

When looking for furlough housing many years ago, I discovered EdenRidge. Ground had not yet been broken, but as I communicated with Oliver, I saw the vision and scope. I got on the newsletter list and spent years praying and watching God do big things!

Peace Cabin at EdenRidge

How excited we were when we finally booked the Peace Cabin and saw the vision up close! Ministering in a large Asian country often left us weary and stretched, though we loved our lives there. Over the years, EdenRidge became to us a living representation of the word “rest.”

One memory we enjoy is having been left a little pile of the Dossmann’s CDs. It was fall, and every window looked like a painting of sky and foliage. We were playing one of the CDs, and the fireplace was turned on. All the noise in our heads and hearts just stopped as we worshiped God in that place. This is what we needed and longed for, a season of rest and communion with our Lord apart from all the busyness of our lives.

Our family contains several missionaries, and a few of our children have now brought their own families to EdenRidge to share with them a place in which they had met God face to face.

enjoying the simpler life at EdenRidge (L to R)

This next summer, we have begun planning our 50th anniversary celebration there, with our kids coming from around the world to meet us. We couldn’t imagine a better place to rejoice and remember God’s grace and goodness to us in that place which has been a respite to us as a family for so many years.

Was your stay meaningful? We'd love to hear how God used your time at EdenRidge.
